Opened in 1988 by legendary R&B artist Boz Scaggs, Slim’s is a live music nightclub dedicated to providing the public with excellent service, a friendly atmosphere, good food & drinks, and the finest of American Roots Music, Blues, R&B, Cajun/Zydeco, Jazz, Alternative, Metal, Hip-Hop, Pop and more.
Slim’s has been voted Best Bar & Club, Best Sound and Best Music Venue many times throughout the years by publications like Pollstar Magazine and the San Francisco Chronicle and has played host to artists such as Radiohead, Kings of Leon, X and Prince. The club is located in the South of Market district of San Francisco, a hub of nightlife in the city, within easy access or parking and public transportation.
The premises consist of an open floor on our main level. At one end of the floor is our performance stage. At the other end we have a small balcony with table seating for 30 where guests may sit and relax by ordering one of our Dinner & Admission tickets, which comes with a 3-course prix fixe dinner. Our bar runs the length of the floor in an “L” shape. The decor is simple and tasteful, with chandeliers, brick walls, and a bar inspired by the facades of several New Orleans manors.
Slim’s offers a full bar and kitchen with bar menu and table service (limited availability). A coat check and additional restrooms are located in our downstairs level.
Slim’s is wheelchair accessible.
Box Office & Ticketing
Slim's Box Office Hours
30 minutes before Doors on a show night until around 10pm
The Slim's Box Office is located near the entrance to the club on 11th Street. There is no service charge at the box office.
Tickets can also be purchased online via our website or on Eventbrite (Slim's here, GAMH here) for an additional service charge.
Fax orders can be processed Mon-Fri until 5pm by filling out this downloadable form and sending it to 415-252-9564.
Slim's tickets may also be purchased at the Great American Music Hall Box Office.
With Eventbrite, we offer a variety of different delivery options for tickets that are a little different than what you might be used to. All tickets are essentially digital - when you purchase online you will be emailed a PDF copy of your tickets and if you have an Eventbrite account under the same email address, the tickets will automatically be loaded into your app. You can print the PDF or just bring up the bar code on your smartphone at the door to be scanned. If you want someone else to use your tickets, you can either forward them the PDF or print it out and hand it to them. If you purchase tickets in person at our box office you will receive hard tickets in hand, but you also have the option to give your name and email, in which case you'll also receive the digital copy in your Eventbrite account and you can use either to gain access to the show. "Will Call" is no longer a delivery option (you'll always get a digital copy emailed to you when purchasing online), but you're welcome to come to the box office on the night of show with a photo ID if you'd like to have hard tickets printed for you.
Alternate Will Call Pick-up
If you have tickets purchased under your name, but need someone else to pick them up and are unable to forward them your PDF or hand them the hard tickets, there is no need to call or contact us. Simply make a photocopy of your ID and write a note on it releasing your tickets into someone else's name. Include your full name and their full name and sign it. If your guest brings that with them, along with their own photo ID, they will be able to pick up your tickets.

Food & Drink
Meet the chef
Diego Giordano came up cooking in the rock and roll kitchens of the Great American Music Hall and Slim’s. Under the tutelage of other great chefs at both venues for several years, including James Whitmore and Jose Yanez, Diego studied the ins and outs of rock venue cooking. He learned to perfect the balance between feeding big-name musicians and local artists, keeping hungry concert goers happy, and creating elaborate banquets for private events.
Slim’s was proud and excited for Diego to become the Head Chef at Slim’s in the summer of 2014. In his short time in charge of the kitchen, he has certainly made his mark. Bringing his New Jersey roots to California cuisine, Diego has expanded the Slim’s menu with several handmade specialties like his housemade pizzas and pastas; he is constantly experimenting with fresh local ingredients and new concepts for his dinner specials. But it’s at private events where Diego’s creativity and unique flavors really shine, and he has built new and robust catering offerings at Slim’s. Diego is thrilled to bring his love of local, seasonal, and handcrafted artisan food to individualized menus for any occasion.
