Steve Miller, who by the way is NOT the Space Cowboy, is a 24 year veteran of the San Francisco fire department and an avid surfer and kite surfer at Ocean Beach. On January 4th, 2013 while driving on the Great Highway, he suffered an aneurysm which, in turn, caused him to crash his truck. He was rushed to UCSF where the aneurysm was diagnosed. He is now recovering but still hospitalized. It’s going to be a long road back, but because of his healthy lifestyle and the support of his family and friends, his prognosis is good.
Steve can always be found in the fall at Kelly’s Cove, where he’s a proud member of the local boys’ crew. He also loves to shoot down to the Baja peninsula for kite surfing in the Sea of Cortez. Station 34, which practically overlooks Kelly’s Cove, has been his fire department home for 20 years, where he is a master of surf and cliff rescue.
Steve is married to his beloved Mary Carol and his son Scott has followed in his footsteps, being one of the hot local Kelly’s Cove surfers and also on the fire department entrance list. We hope this benefit can help out, maybe just a little, financially and more importantly, give Steve positive energy in the coming months.
