The 14th Annual San Francisco Bluegrass & Old-Time Festival will take place at venues all over the San Francisco Bay Area. It will start on February 7th and continue through the 17th.

Their sound is new traditional, noting that much of their material is original, yet it touches on classic bluegrass themes such as love, loss, work, regret and death. The Prowlers’ fresh, descriptive songs have been featured in the PBS series "The Ride of Our Lives," and have won them the 2010 RockyGrass Bluegrass Festival Band Competition and finalists at the 2010 Telluride Bluegrass Band Competition.

Roots/jazz collective, Dustbowl Revival fuse old-school bluegrass, swamp-gospel, jug-band, jump blues and hot swing of the 1930’s to form a spicy roots cocktail. It’s young people playing high-energy, vintage music. Known for their raucous dance-inducing live sets, the Dustbowl Revival play what some call hillbilly jazz-the original front porch rock n’ roll. Featuring over ten musicians with instrumentation that often includes banjo, tuba, trombone, clarinet, cornet, trumpet, mandolin, drums, guitars, double bass, harmonica and plenty of washboard and kazoo for good luck.

FRONT COUNTRY (San Francisco)
This who’s who of Bay Area bluegrass and country pickers features members of the Whisky Richards, the Midnight Gamblers, the Heel Draggers, Belle Monroe & Her Brewglass Boys. Formed in 2011 as a collective of the hottest pickers in town, to play a monthly gig in San Francisco’s Mission District. They quickly found a musical rapport that was open to challenging arrangements, unique covers and original songwriting. Their repertoire rapidly expanded and in January of 2012 Front Country became the second Northern California band in three years to win the prestigious RockyGrass band competition. The band is; Adam Roszkiewicz (mandolin), Jacob Groopman (guitar), Jordan Klein (banjo), Leif Karlstrom (fiddle), Melody Walker (guitar), and Zach Sharpe (upright bass).

RED DOG ASH (Turlock, CA)
Original and classic bluegrass, hard-driving tunes, and beautiful waltzes featuring tight harmonies, hot licks, and high-lonesome mountain soul are what Red Dog Ash are all about. It’s original neo-traditional music,
rooted in bluegrass, but friendly with the wider sounds of folk, country, gospel, blues, and the new acoustic genre.
